Raise your wands, Harry Potter fans. Warner Bros. Entertainment and J.K. Rowling have made a fantastic announcement.

Warner Bros. Entertainment have announced in a press release that a new movie series inspired by the Harry Potter world will soon be in the works.
The new movie series will be a spin-off of the original Harry Potter series, based on the fictional textbook “Fantastical Beasts and Where to Find Them”, written by fictitious author Newt Scamander. Set in New York 70-years before Harry Potter, the new movie series, which will be Rowling's screenwriting debut, will follow the adventures of Newt Scamander. “As hard-core Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favourite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood.” Rowling said of Newt Scamander in the press release.

Rowling admits that it was difficult to think of another author writing about one of her characters after Warner Bros. Entertainment proposed the idea.

“As I considered Warners’ proposal, an idea took shape that I couldn’t dislodge. That is how I ended up pitching my own idea for a film to Warner Bros.” Rowling said.

“We are incredibly honored that Jo has chosen to partner with Warner Bros. on this exciting new exploration of the world of wizardry which has been tremendously successful across all of our businesses,” said Kevin Tsujihara, Chief Executive Officer, Warner Bros. Entertainment.
